Living stone college

Dimapur, October 8: The Department of Psychology, Livingstone Foundation International College organized a World Mental Health Day program in their premises with Imlibenla Mongro, Clinical Psychologist, CIHSR as a special guest on October 8,2021.

Imlibenla Mollier, Clinical Psychologist CIHSR talked on the theme “Mental Health in an Unequal World”. In her speech, she said, “As a society, we show a different attitude towards a person with mental health issues.”
She said that misconception towards mental health creates unequal treatment by the society and thus one should respond to those people with appropriate and supportive manner.
She said that mental health and physical health are both connected with medical conditions as depression, anxieties and stress are reflected on the person’s health. She said that seeking professional help at the earliest will help in minimizing the severity of the person’s mental health.
Mental health among the people has become very common, people are finally understanding the problem while taking a step to reach out to a professional specialist, she added.
She advised that peer group counseling should be practiced to identify distress with one another as a person with mental health reaches out to their peers and siblings first, before reaching out to an adult or an expert. She also mentioned that family support is an important factor in understanding and helping a person with mental health.

The program was blessed with a special song by the Department of Psychology, and vote of thanks was addressed by Tiaienla of BA 1st Semester, Department of Psychology.
