
Dimapur, March 10: The Department of History, Livingstone Foundation International College conducted a lecture programme on March 7 on the topic, “Science and Religion” with Rev Dr. Samuel Richmond, Director of Centre for Advance Religious Studies, Northeast Christian University as the resource person.
The purpose of the lecture was to instill new ideas among the students and to touch areas beyond the academic syllabus.
Dr. Richmond spoke on the importance of both science and religion; he mentioned that in areas where science cannot offer explanation religion comes in and vice-versa. He quoted Albert Einstein, “Science without religion is lame, and religion without science is blind”, he maintained that human beings need both. If science and religion are properly understood, they cannot be in contradiction because they concern different matters, he added.
The discourse was followed by an interactive session after which it was concluded by a vote of thanks by the principal Dr.R K Behera. This program was chaired by Pechesin Kent, 2nd semester, invocation by Dantsula K Yimchunger, 4th semester, welcome note was given by Imtiba HOD, Department of History and a special number was presented by Dinman Kaurinta and Amongla Lemtur 2nd semester.
