
NEW DELHI, December 5: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad on Monday underwent a successful kidney transplant surgery, his son and Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav confirmed. The 74-year-old former Bihar chief minister underwent the surgery in a Singapore hospital.
Lalu’s second daughter Rohini Acharya donated one of her kidneys to him. The former Bihar CM was shifted to the Singapore hospital on Sunday.
“After a successful kidney transplant operation, Papa has been shifted from the operation theatre to the ICU. Gratitudes to all those who prayed for them and wished them well,” he tweeted, sharing a video of his father at the hospital. (TNN)
Tejashwi said his father as well as elder sister Rohini are fine.
Earlier today, Rohini took to Twitter to share a photo with her father and wrote, “wish me a good luck”.
Serving sentences in a number of fodder scam cases, Lalu Prasad is currently out on bail on medical grounds. (TNN)
