A storm is brewing in the world of make-up as Sheree Cosmetics have slapped Kylie Jenner with a lawsuit that alleges the model had copied their eye shadow range.
The 21-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star had recently announced the launch of Kylie Cosmetics Born To Sparkle, in a post to her 117 million Instagram followers.
Sheree Cosmetics from Spanish Fort, Alabama, has claimed that they had made the same glitter eye shadow palette some 10 months earlier, in October 2017.
Speaking to DailyMailTV , Sheree Cosmetics founder Tiffany Hermann said that she was taking Kylie to court “to protect our business.”
Tiffany also said that they had “worked really hard for it,” and wanted to protect their ideas after Kylie released her #21 collection.
There are fears that 21-year-old Kylie, who is apparently worth $900 million, has damaged the sales of Sheree Cosmetics’ Born to Sparkle range.
Tiffany believes that many would have been led to Kylie Cosmetics when looking for the Sheree Cosmetics version.
Attorney Anthony M Verna III said that the complaint filed with the US Southern District of New York cites a trademark infringement, trade dress infringement and false designation of origin.
Speaking about the legal action, Verna said that Kylie Cosmetics had made false claims, though he hadn’t calculated exactly how much his client will be looking for in damages.
