Dimapur, May 22: While appreciating the Government of Nagaland for working tirelessly to defeat Covid-19 on war footing, Kohima Village Council expressed happiness that the Government has been trying to accomplish the herculean task of bringing home all stranded persons from various parts of the country.
However, it said that stranded returnees meant for Mokokchung, Tuensang, Wokha, Zunheboto, Phek, Kiphire, Longleng etc should be sent as soon as possible to their respective districts without having a halt for few days for observation and screening. The KVC said this would lessen the risk of infected people mixing with everybody, decrease the workload of administration and other logistics.
It said if new returnees are continued to be added to the batch already completing their quarantine period, they are subjected to additional risks.
In a letter to Chief Secretary, Nagaland, the KVC said other seven district like Mokokchung, Tuensang, Wokha, Zunheboto, Phek, Kiphire and Longleng are supposed to have already set up their quarantine centres and therefore the burden and risk of these additional 7 districts must not be put on Kohima alone.
The KVC requested the Government that stranded passengers for other district must be sent off without halting for several days at Kohima upon arrival. (Page News Service)
