KTC not to attend consultative meeting on RIIN

Dimapur, July 18: The Kachari Tribal Council has decided to abstain from attending the consultative meeting on RIIN convened by the Home Department on July 20 stated that Kacharis were not invited in the first all important consultative meeting of RIIN held on July 17 wherein all other hohos of recognized indigenous tribes were invited.
In an emergency meeting held today, the members felt that Kacharis were deliberately left out of the said meeting demeaning the indigenous status and the very existence of Kachari people in the state.
Members also felt that it would be a futile exercise to deliberate on the subject when all relevant resolutions had already been adopted in the first meeting of July 17 and made public.
However, it extended its support to the Government policy on RIIN but regreted to abstain from the meeting on July 20.
