Kohima, January 13 : Nagaland’s planning & coordination, land revenue and parliamentary affairs minister Neiba Kronu has mourned the sudden demise of Venieyi Vadeo, former Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) treasurer & advisor who passed away on January 10 at Dimapur.
He was a social worker and a dedicated public leader. His contribution to the Chakhesang society will always be remembered, Kronu stated in a condolence message.
Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) stated that Venieyi was a popular and prominent wrestler during his wrestling days.
“He was a courteous person and a true gentleman possessing many good qualities but at the same times he was also a vigorous and an enthusiastic person and had contributed immensely towards the promotion and upliftment of our wrestling activities during his time,” NWA stated in a condolence message.
Late Vadeo served as publicity secretary (2004 – 2008) and advisor of NWA (2008 – 2012).
In his death, we have lost a genuine sports lover and a gentle soul in the field of sports and wrestling, stated NWA president Dr. Hiabe Zeliang and general secretary Vilekho Bio.
Meanwhile, Late Vadeo represented Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) to NWA championship as a wrestler on 4 occasions and secured 4th Position in the year 1978, stated CWA.
He also represented Naga Wrestling Team during Naga-Mizo Wrestling tournament as a wrestler in 1978.
“Lt. Venieyi Vadeo was not only a prominent wrestler but an ardent supporter of wrestling activities throughout his life. He served as Vice President, CWA during 2002-2004 and NWA as Publicity & Information Secretary from 2004-2008 and Advisor from 2008-2012,” CWA stated.
The news of the sudden demise of late Vadeo has come as a great shock to all of us, stated CWA president Vekhozo and general secretary Kuzhovesa Soho and conveyed deepest sympathies and shared the sorrow and grief with the bereaved family.
Late Vadeo will continue to be honoured and remembered for all his accomplishments by the Chakhesang people in general and wrestling association in particular, CWA added.
