
Pfutsero, April 24: Nagaland Minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu today inaugurated Pfutseromi village blacktopped road under Pfutsero sub-division of Phek district.
The inauguration was done during the celebration of Tsükhenyie cum 72nd Youth Day of Pfutseromi Youth Organization (PYO) which started from today and will continue till April 27.
Speaking on the occasion, Kronu maintained that the Pfutsero area with its fertile soil and climatic condition is viable for undertaking various agricultural activities. He called upon the people to make the best use of the available land for cultivation purposes to boost the rural economy.
He said that all efforts be made to convert “wasteland into wealth land.”
Kronu also urged the people to identify the right crops and take up the same on a commercial scale.
He cautioned the people on their approach and chase after subsidy, saying that subsidy culture has destroyed one generation in the past.
PYO president Kekhrozulo Ritse said, “As we celebrate Tsiikhenyie with merry making and festivity, let us not forget but continue to revive and uphold the values of our traditional culture such as hard work, discipline, respect, integrity and community welfare.” May this celebration unite and bless us all, he added.
KKTPO president Neikhwetso Mero shared greetings while Pfutseromi village council chairman Lhiwepelo Ritse delivered the welcome address.
The celebration will continue till April 27 with Sunday being fishing day, khel feast on April 26 and wrestling day on April 27.
Earlier, addressing another programme of Tsükhenye festival cum wrestling meet 2021 at Zuketsa Ground under Phek district, Kronu called upon the people to widen their horizon and focus on improving human resource development besides physical infrastructural development.
He also appreciated the people for forest conservation efforts and encouraged the people to continue its effort in conservation of bio – diversities in the area.
He reminded the people that the Pfutsero area will be developed into a main tourist destination.
Dr. Kevichusa Medikhrii, principal director, directorate of health and family welfare Nagaland also graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
Informing that the second wave of COVID 19 is of severe one, he asked the people to follow COVID 19 appropriate behaviour and stay safe.
He urged the people to wear face masks, maintain social distancing norms and other sanitary practices.
He urged upon the community to actively involve and support the various measures being undertaken by the medical department to win over COVID 19 pandemic in the state. (Page News Service)
