Konyak Catholic unions condemn alleged attack on priest

Dimapur, June 11: The Konyak Catholic Association, Konyak Catholic Women Association and Konyak Catholic Youth Association have condemned what they stated was the barbaric and inhuman act allegedly committed by “Phelip claiming himself to be Phushai of Wakching, who has been excommunicated by the people of Wakching recently”.


In a joint statement issued on Friday, they alleged that the person had attempted to commit murder of Rev. Fr. Sam at the Priests’ Presbytery Don Bosco Centre Mon on June 8.
The priest was badly injured during the attack, they stated.
“Further, we thank and appreciate the District Administration and the Police Mon for the timely intervention and necessary action initiated against the culprit. We also acknowledge the Konyak Baptist Association Mon, Mon Village Students Union, Wakching Town Students Union and other organizations for the solidarity note extended during this situation,” the statement read.
