Kohima police recover suspected heroin

Dimapur, May 21: Kohima Police personnel on Saturday morning recovered 186 gm of suspected heroin from a vehicle parked on the inter-state highway at Khuzama.
A press release informed that at around 8.30 a.m., the cops at Khuzama inter-state police check gate noticed a Maruti Gypsy without registration number, suspiciously parked on the highway.
“The vehicle was then thoroughly inspected and found that plastic soap cases were found concealed in modified compartment of the vehicle. Altogether, 15 soap cases containing suspected heroin powder weighing 186 gm were recovered and seized from the said vehicle”, it stated.
It is presumed that the driver might have abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene, seeing the checking of vehicles by the police personnel, it added.
According to police, efforts are being made to ascertain the identity of the driver as well as the registered owner of the vehicle. A case under NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation.
