Kohima police nabs 4 extortionists

Dimapur, June 19: Kohima police arrested two miscreants for extorting money from a construction site near NBCC, New Secretariat area on June 16 last. The two arrested have been identified as Ase-o Kense (27), son of Pfusiesa Kense of Tuophema village, presently a resident of Phezouchz colony, Kohima and Mongchao Khiam (29), son of Yanso of Nokhu village, presently a resident of Thizama village, Kohima.
In this connection, a criminal case has been registered and the accused remanded to police custody for conducting further investigation.
Earlier on June 12, based on specific information about extortion of Manipur bound trucks by unknown miscreants along NH-29, a raid was conducted at Lower PWD Colony by Kohima police and arrested one person identified as Viketouzo alias Baby (37), son of Lt. Ruokuovolie, a resident of Lower PWD Colony, Kohima.
During the raid 16 mobile phones, 10 GPRN work permit, one pistol, cash amounting to Rs 12,120 and vehicle bearing registration number NL01C-4135 was seized.
Another accomplice of the accused identified as Renpemo Tsopoe (24), son of Y. Ntsono Tsopoe, a resident of Midland Colony, Kohima was also arrested on June 17.
In this connection, a criminal case has been registered for conducting further investigation, police said. (Page News Service)
