Kohima Police nab 2 on charges of murder; Mezomia Forum condemns

KOHIMA, MAY 19: Kohima police have nabbed two persons on charges of murder and other relevant Sections of the IPC.
A release issued by PRO Kohima Police said that a report was received in North Police Station on Saturday evening that an elderly person has been hospitalized in a private hospital following a physical assault by some individuals in the aftermath of a vehicular traffic related scuffle.
The victim has been identified as Kezhalelie Lawrence who subsequently succumbed to his injuries. In this regard, a criminal case has been registered U/S 323/325/352/302 IPC in North Police Station, the PRO said.
The two individuals arrested are Neizosetuo Kire (24) and Khrietsonyü Whuorie (25).
Meanwhile, the Mezomia Mechü Kehou (Mezomia Citizens Forum) has expressed anguish and extreme disturbance over the inhumanity act of the two individuals at the prime of their youth.
In a release, MMK vice president Mhiesibeizo Vikhrie and joint secretary Khrisakuolie Khawakhrie said that on the evening of the May 18, around 4:40 p.m., at Phoolbari Bus/Taxi stand the duo resorted to hitting K Lawrence Miasalhou over no issue.
During the said incident, his son Thejavizo B Miasalhou was also assaulted when he went to save his father from the aforementioned persons, they said.
As a result of his injury, he was taken to Oking Hospital, Kohima but succumbed to his injuries at around 3 a.m. today.
The victim, K Lawrence Miasalhou, who is currently the President of MMK and also PA to Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, was an upright person and taking away his life can never be compromised nor accepted, they said.
The MMK condemned the crime committed by the two youths upon an elderly and respected member of the society at large and the Union in particular.
The MMK urged the law enforcing agencies to immediately take up the matter and punish the culprits under all relevant laws of the land, while also cautioning that no bail should be permitted and that no individual/group should try bailing out the two culprits at any cost.
Lamenting that the Mezomia citizens have lost one of its finest leaders, they prayed that his innocent soul rests in eternal peace.

WAYO public rally against murder
KOHIMA, MAY 19: The Western Angami Youth Organisation (WAYO) will hold a public rally on Monday to show resentment against the murder of Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou, PA to Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
WAYO said that Miasalhou succumbed to his injuries after being beaten by two youths identified as Neizosetuo Kire and Khrietsonyü Whuorie of Kohima village.
The incident reportedly took place on May 18 evening at Phool Bari, Kohima, WAYO said.
The WAYO, therefore, appealed to all Western Angami citizens to join the public rally which will commence at 10 a.m. at Paramedical junction and proceed to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, for submission of memorandum. (Page News Service)
