Kohima-Jessami road: DC Phek issues travel advisory

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 30: Deputy Commissioner Phek, Kuko Mero, has informed that the stretch of Kohima-Jessami (Package-II) on NH-29 road from existing Km. 30.474 to existing Km. 53.220 (Designed Km 29.600 to Km 51.5) has been damaged severely due to landslide and rockfalls on multiple occasions.
He stated that the concerned construction company is on the job of maintenance and restoration work on this particular road stretch, despite of which roads have been endlessly damage due to plying of heavy loaded trucks and at the same time regular works were obstructed due to frequent movement of vehicles.
Therefore, in the interest and safety of all and to ensure smooth maintenance works, movement of light and medium vehicles carrying a load below 11.5 Metric Tons along the aforementioned stretch has been restricted from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with immediate effect till October 2.
Travellers have been advised to take the alternative route i.e., Via Zuketsa (for light and Medium vehicles).
Further, it is reported that the Bridge at Km. 36.950 (Kohima-Jessami road, Package-II) on NH-29 has been severely damaged.
Therefore, movement of Heavy/Medium Vehicles carrying a load of 11.5 Metric Tons and has been completely restricted.
He reminded to all concerned that this information is for strict compliance.
