Kohima, July 29: Joint effort of Border Roads Organization (BRO) and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has successfully opened the Kohima-Imphal National Highway-2.
The NH-2 was completely cut-off due to massive landslide caused by incessant rain for last several weeks near FCI Godown, Phesama village last evening.
OSD of NSDMA, Johnny Ruangmei said that BRO pressed JCB to clear debris not only blocking the NH-2 but also causing danger to the bridge just after FCI Godown towards Phesama village.
They managed to clear the debris for flow of clogged water while the road was also cleared for light vehicles by mid-day, he said.
CS convenes emergency meeting to discuss calamities
Meanwhile, Ruangmei informed that Chief Secretary Temjen Toy has convened an emergency meeting to discuss on the issues of many damages caused by continuous rainfall. The meeting will be held at the Chief Secretary’s chamber in Secretariat at 12:00 noon on the July 30.
All members, including Chief Engineers of Roads & Bridges and National Highway, Commissioner & Secretary (Works and Housing), Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police Kohima and NHIDCL have been requested to attend the meeting positively. (Page News Service)
