Vanguard FC and United 16 FC share draw points
Kohima, July 23: Playing 2nd round of the ongoing Kohima Football League organised by Kohima Town Club at Local Ground here today Vanguard Football Club, Tseminyu and United 16 Football Club, Lerie remained beatless to earn their first point of the league. The teams ended in 1-1 draw to open their account with shared onr point each.
In a closely contested match in water clogged ground, Vanguard could have found an early lead in 8th minute as captain Yhunshalo Kemp came one on one with custodian P. Angki Konyak but was denied a goal. However, in the counter attack United 16 FC found the lead through Daveikho (19) in the 10th minute.
In the 24th minute, Vanguard defender Nighato Sumi (15) was penalised with yellow card for intentionally handling the ball.
The 42nd minute cost heavily against United 16 as a defender handball inside the danger zone was declared penalty in favour of Vanguard.
Taking the shot, skipper Yhunshalo didn’t commit any mistake to bring home the much needed equaliser to end the first half.
In the breather half, neither side were able to create much oportunity to break the deadlock while the target shots were thwarted by either custodians P Angki Konyak for United 16 and Tesinsen Kath for Vanguard.
Notably, United 16 could have found the lead in 54th minute as Longkhol (7) came one on one with rival custodian but his shot went wide off mark ending the stipulated time in 1-1 draw.
Hrüzhüo of United 16 was penalized for unsporting behavior in the second half.
