Kohima Football League-2; New Market and Ziekezou shares point

Kohima, August 17: The top two teams of the first edition of Kohima Football League – champion Ziekezou Sporting Club and runners-up New Market Football Club shared a point each their second leg match of the second edition played today at Kohima Local Ground.
In a thrilling encounter, both the teams with the current standing at second and third position, were equally competent from the start while trying. It was scoring maniac of New Market Gideon Leo (99) successfully overlapped rival defence off a long pass from Kethozhapu Meru (30) to bring home the first goal in the 9th minute.
The crowd roared up to joy as Salu Kulim (14) scored the second lead through a penalty spot kick in 19th minute, which was awarded as Leo was pulled down inside the box by custodian Sedekhotuo Sote (21).
However, the defending champion’s returned to the game as Vilhoubeituo Yhome (15) right footer found the rival nets for the first goal following a brilliant move from Keneinguzei Pienyü (9) in the 23rd minute.
Nonetheless, four minutes later, Yhome disappointing struck wide off target despite being free and just inside the D’box.
The 36th minute stunned New Market as their custodian Sedevituo Seretsu (1) failed to block a long range power shot from Punürü Nienu (10) for the much needed equalizer to end the first half in 2-2 draw.
After the lemon break, it was Ziekezou taking home the lead through an excellent header from Yhome (15) off a long cross by Khriekethozo Keretsü (23) in 62nd minute but New Market found the equalizer through Leo’s flick in 72nd minute.
Standing 3-3 deadlock, both sides did get final opportunity to take the lead but in 76th minute a right footer from Yhome despite being one on one with rival custodian was wasted while in 86th minute Kulim did make a long cross for Leo who despite stretching to the best could not find the ball within six yard zone.
Ziekezou skipper Khrukhoto Resu was the only player to be penalized for unsporting behavior during the match.
With the draw while defending champion’s have currently moved to the top position with 21 points, New Market is still on third place with 19 points.
