Velukho’s hat-trick marks first win for Khriekesa FC

Kohima, August 1: Defender Velukho Rakho scored a hat-trick marking the first win for Khriekesa Football Club, Meriema at the ongoing Kohima Football League-2 organised by Kohima Town Club at Local Ground here.
In an action packed fifth round match, Khriekesa defeated United 16 FC by 4-1 with Velukho becoming the second hat-trick scorer of the tournament. Both the teams are the bottom liners of the tourney.
Making some decisive moves, United 16 got the opportunity to score an early lead within the fifth minute as referee awarded a penalty spot kick against the unsporting behavior of Khriekesa defence line inside the danger zone. However, Longkhoi (7) wasted the opportunity by hitting the ball for a goal-kick. A minute later Khriekesa missed an opportunity as Vekrüto Resü (8) struck a free chance wide off the target from inside the D’box. In the 8th minute, Jonathan Koso (10) long range free kick was pushed for a corner by custodian Mhasiletuo Ciesotsu (22).
However, a direct free in the 14th minute gave the bottom liners, Khriekesa FC the first lead through a stunner from Velukho Rhakho (11). Khrieneituo Kezieo (16) almost found the second lead in 27th minute but his shot rebounded from the cross bar.
In unexpected turn of event, United 16 found the much needed equalizer in 37th minute Longkhoi’s power shot pierced into the nets as custodian Ciesotsu was distracted by water clogged play field to end the first half in 1-1 draw.
The breather half commenced with Velukho being penalized for unsporting behavior but despite an openly challenge, the referee merely showed a yellow card against him while the very next minute Kekhriengulie Üsou (9) was sent of the field for direct combat.
Continuing the play with 10 players, Khriekesa however managed to score the lead in 77th minute through a direct free kick from Velukho in 77th minute while he scored a hat-trick, second of the tournament, in 89th minute. Vimelie (14) sealed the score board with an excellent header off a corner kick from Khrieneituo in the injury added time of first half.
Khriekesa FC earned the first full point of the tournament and now stands at 6 points as they have 3 draw matches and lost one in the early four matches.
