Sechü-Zubza FC holds Vanguard FC; United 16 earns full points
Kohima, July 28: Sechü-Zubza Football Club and Vanguard FC shared a point each while United 16 FC, Lerie earned their first full points of the ongoing second edition of Kohima Football League under the aegis of Kohima Town Club at Local Ground here.
Playing the first match of the day, league toppers Sechü-Zubza FC were held back by Vanguard FC at 2-2 draw during the stipulated 90 minutes play to share a point each.
In a fast paced scoring in first half of the match, skipper of Vanguard Yhunshalo Kemp (9) opened their account within 12th minute but their happiness didn’t last long as Petevizo Kezieo (7) struck the equalizer in 22nd minute.
Sechü-Zubza moved on to find the lead in 38th minute through Shühosul Zhotoso (9) but within next minute Vanguard responded with the equalizer through Nyithong (7).
Neither side was able to make any decisive move to break the deadlock to earn full points till the end of the final whistle.
Nighato (15) of Vanguard FC and Yavikholie (28) of Sechü-Zubza were penalized for unsporting behavior during the match.
On the other hand playing the second match, United 16 FC earned their first full points defeating New Market FC 2-1.
Jonathan Koso (10) scored a very lead for the bottom team of the league but New Market returned to the game a minute before the half-time through Salu Kulim (14). After the lemon break, both teams failed to find a breakthrough unless the injury added favouring United 16 with defender Tongpangnungshi (3) striking the winning goal.
