Ziekezou SC humiliates United 16; Crucial final match for Sechü-Zubza today
Kohima, August 24: Defending champion’s Ziekezou Sporting Club today humiliated United 16 to move into top position of the ongoing second edition of Kohima Football League organized by Kohima Town Club at Local Ground here.
Playing the last (12) round match, Ziekezou SC routed United 16 by 7-1 to earn full points to stand at 24 points to move up to the top position of the season. However, their final position depends on tomorrow’s match, between debutant teams Sechü-Zubza FC and Twenty-XI FC Viswema, which will also be the last match of KFL-2.
Currently, Sechü-Zubza having the last match to play has 23 points and a win or draw in tomorrow’s match would make them the undisputed champion of this season, but a loss would help Ziekezou retain the KFL trophy for consecutive second season.
On the other hand, a win for current fourth positioned – Twenty-XI would place them to third position.
Meanwhile, in today’s lopsided match Ziekezou opened the flood gates within the 5th minute through Keviphretuo Kire while Keneinguzei Pienyü doubled the margin in 9th minute followed by Neikethozo Yhome scoring the third in 30th minute and Vilhoubeituo Yhome concluding the first half with 4-nil lead in 45th minute.
After the lemon break, Keneinguzei Pienyü scored the fifth in 62nd minute while Khriekethozo Keretsü took it to 6-0 in 70th minute. However, a consolation goal for United 16 came in through the boots of Longkhoi in the 85th while Kethosilie Zatsu sealed the score board with the seventh goal for Ziekezou in 89th minute.
Keviphretuo Kire of Ziekiezou SC was yellow carded for unsporting behavior during the match.
Meanwhile, Kohima Town Club has informed that closing ceremony of KFL-2 would be held right after the last match tomorrow. President of Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union, Pele Khezhie will grace the award ceremony as the guest of honour. The valedictory programme will be marked by Taekwondo demonstration and live performance by 4th NAP Jazz band.
