Rhitsho double scores as New Market moves to third position
Kohima, August 7: Striker Rhitsho Mero’s (10) brilliant double score helped runners-up of the last edition – New Market Football Club to move up to the third position of the Kohima Football League-2 organized by Kohima Town Club at Local Ground here,
Fourth positioned New Market FC blanked Vanguard FC, Tseminyu by two goals in a thrilling encounter to earn full three points and to attain third position among the seven teams competing in the premier football league in the state capital.
Vanguard, which is in fifth position started strongly by making quick attacks in the first half but as lady luck didn’t favour the team initially shots from Nyithong Magh (7) and Sinlo Magh (11) rebounded striking the goal post. They even got a penalty in the 64th minute but in a disappointing turn of event skipper Yhunhalo Kemp’s (9) strike was superbly blocked by New Market custodian Lhiwete Koza (21).
On the other hand for New Market FC, it was Rhitsho Mero’s day with Salu Kulim (14) helping him to score the two important goals.
A long cross from Salu in the 44th minute was converted by Rhitsho for the first lead. He also brillaingly headed another long cross from Salu in the 89th minute to mark the win and place his team in third position.
Presently with Twenty XI FC Viswema left to complete its 7th game, debutants Sechü-Zubza are in top position followed by defending champion Ziekezou FC with 14 and 13 points respectively.
