Kohima, JunE 14: With the State capital entering the last week of the current lockdown period, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kohima today started relief distribution for daily wage earners and workers under Kohima district.
The Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DDMA Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie officially launched the relief distribution initiative at Kohima local ground, initiated by the State Government to mitigate the ‘economic problem and hardship’ faced by daily wage earners and labourers.
In Kohima district, a total number of 7000 beneficiaries of daily wage earners have been listed till date from various wards and colonies under Kohima Municipal as well as rural areas of the 7 sub-divisions.
The Dry Ration Relief Package contains 12 relief items – 10 kg of rice, a kilogram each of lentils, dal, sugar, salt, onion & garlic (mixed), half litre of mustard oil, 200 grams of tea leaf, 2 pieces each of bath & washing soap, 100 gram each of masala and chilli packets.
Under administrative sub-division/circle, Chiephobozou has been allotted 700 beneficiaries, Tseminyu – 700, Jakhama – 300, Sechu Zubza – 300, Botsa – 300, Kezocha – 200 and Tsogin – 200 and the remaining 4300 beneficiaries will be from the Kohima Municipal Area and Kohima Sadar.
The value of each packet is estimated at Rs 550 amounting to a total of Rs 38.50 lakh.
