Kohima DTF sanctions ICU at Meriema COVID Care Centre

Dimapur, April 21: The Kohima District Task Force (DTF) on COVID-19 has decided to let Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) set up an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Meriema COVID Care Centre, as part of its preparation for the second wave of COVID-19 infections.

According to a DIPR report, this decision was taken during an emergency meeting of the DTF on Wednesday.
For supply of power and water to Meriema COVID Care Centre, it was decided to entrust the respective department officials to take care of it at the earliest.
The meeting discussed and deliberated various issues pertaining to the status of COVID-19 positive cases, vaccination drive and level of preparation in the district.
For preventing the spread of COVID-19, the meeting decided that in co-ordination with ADC Kohima, Bhavani Sri, an enforcement drive of wearing face masks and following other COVID-appropriate behaviours will be carried out in all the wards. The ADC will be assisted by medical team, police, All Kohima Municipal Wards & Panchayats (AKMWP) members and respective sector magistrates.
Issues concerning random sampling and testing, shortage of manpower for COVID Care Centre, requirement of ambulance for transporting COVID patients, pending bills, monitoring of entry points were also taken up where it was decided to highlight and pursue the related matters with the government at the earliest.
Deputy Commissioner Gregory Thejawelie asked all his administrative officers to activate COVID Task Force and strictly enforce COVID-appropriate behaviours in their respective sub-divisions.
