Dimapur, December 21: Kohima District Task Force on total ban of single use plastic conducted its third checking and confiscation exercise covering the whole of Kohima town on December 19. The Kohima DTF on total ban of single use plastic comprising of members from the district administration, various other departments and public organizations conducted the checking with the objective of enforcing the total ban imposed on all single use plastic products and also to restrict all shops within the Kohima jurisdiction from selling and using plastic bags, polypropylene bags, mineral water bottles below 1 liters, Styrofoam cups and plates, plastic cups, forks and spoons and a number of other single use non biodegradable plastic products.
The Kohima DTF conducted the checking with members divided into five different teams, each covering different areas. A large number of shops were caught still selling the banned single use plastic products. The erring shopkeepers were fined and let off with a final warning. The banned products were all confiscated by the teams for disposal.
