Kohima DPDB deliberates on COVID-19 preparedness

Dimapur, February 17: The Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) discussed Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in its monthly meeting in the DPDB’s conference hall on February 15. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman DPDB Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS.
In the meeting, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Kohima, Dr Hoito presented on the status of COVID-19 in Nagaland. He informed that a total of 75 passengers were screened till 13th February 2020 where 15 persons were under home isolation as per the status of Nagaland State for COVID -19.
In Kohima district, the surveillance started from 28th January 2020 and 22 passengers were under surveillance till 14th February 2020 and seven persons were under home isolation. Daily follow up of the health status of all passengers under observation for 28 days starting from date of arrival is being carried out. He informed that during observation if any symptoms such as fever, cough or difficulty in breathing develops they will be referred to District hospital. The Medical Officers at District Hospital will examine and depending on the criteria set by WHO guidelines sample collection, isolation etc will be carried out.
Dr Hoito also requested the DPDB members to create awareness on giving information of any persons with travel history to China or affected countries from 15th January 2020 to self declare or report to the numbers provided: State level Helpline – 7005415243, 9856071745 and 7005539653 and for Kohima district Helpline – 8837093602 and 7005464959.
In the meeting, Director Horticulture, Dr Elithung Lotha shared about his experiences in DPDB activities during his posting in various districts and encouraged the members to actively participate and contribute constructive inputs in the DPDB activities for the development of the district.
The meeting also took up the agenda for approval of constitution of verification teams for LADP fund.
Kohima DTF: The Kohima District Task Force on COVID-19 held its first meeting in the DPDB’s conference hall, Kohima on February 15 under the chairmanship of DC Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS. The members discussed on the current status and level of preparedness and the activities carried out so far in regard to the COVID-19 in the district.
Discussing on the difficulties faced by the Medical personnel in persuading people who had recently visited the affected countries, the DTF stressed on the importance to self declare of having travelled to the affected countries by giving information as per the Self Declaration Form provided by the Medical Department. The members also dwelled on the importance to create awareness on the issue at various platforms and to sensitize citizens to cooperate with the Medical Department and to come forward with the Self Declaration Form or report to the authority for preventive measures.
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Kohima, Dr Hoito informed that all levels of health workers of the district will be activated with necessary information in this regard.
