Kohima, September 14: The prize distribution on Swachhta Pakhwada (Cleanliness & sanitation) under Kohima district organized by Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Kohima took place today at DC conference hall.
Rajesh Soundararajan, Deputy Commissioner and chairman DMA, SSA Kohima in his address on the occasion urged the students’ community and teachers to create the sense of cleanliness and sanitation on daily basis and not only during social work day.
Challenging each and every individual to maintain cleanliness, he reminded that the cleanliness or dirtiness of a school is the reflection of school authority and students.
He advised the teachers and students’ community to spread message on the importance of maintaining cleanliness on daily basis.
DC also reminded the gathering that unless the sense of responsibility is instilled to every citizen for cleanliness, all the efforts by the government or authority would be failed.
Ramdi Thou, Sub-divisional education officer and chairman EBRC Tseminyu said that it is the duty of every citizen to keep our surrounding neat and clean.
He suggested sparing some hours for cleanliness on regular basis and also urged to mobilize others on cleanliness and maintain sanitation.
Sekhonulu Thingo, sub-divisional education officer and chairman EBRC Chiephobozou said to achieve cleanliness and sanitation in our town or country one should start from home. She appealed the gathering to consider every place like our own individual place to maintain cleanliness and sanitation.
Altogether, 9 government schools of Kohima district were awarded on competition like clean toilet, essay and drawing /painting competition related to cleanliness and sanitation.
On clean toilet competition, GPS Zunpha Tseminyu bagged first prize, GMS K. Khel Viswema and GPS Dzükhwekie bagged second and third prize respectively.
In essay competition, Kiriangwi (class-8) GMS Bayavü, Zenlo Keppen (class-10) GHS Tseminyu town and Kechalo Apon (class-8) GHS Kandinu bagged first , second and third prize respectively.
Drawing/painting competition :Ist- Khriezhünuo (calss-3) GPS Nerhe Phezha, 2nd: Nyaipa (class-5) GMS K. Khel Viswema and 3rd- Shanti Lal (class-4) GPS Tseminyu old town.
The programme was chaired by Thongsenlo, assistant district co-ordinator DMA,SSA Kohima while welcome address was delivered by Piholi Swunetho, Kohima District Education Officer cum DPC, DMA, SSA.
