Dimapur, April 23: The Kohima District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) held its quarterly meeting at DPDB Hall on April 22 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Anoop Khinchi IAS.
Deliberating on the agenda to update the District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP), the DC called upon the members to contribute their suggestions so as to incorporate in the plan.
On the social work to be conducted on May 4 as directed by the State Chief Secretary at the state level meeting held on April 16, the DC asked all the stakeholders and members of DDMA to come up with suggestions in order to attend those issues during the social work.
On the District Disaster Management Plan, District Project Associate, Victor Yhome highlighted the concept of the booklet components where it contains five chapters which included the introduction, district profile and roles and responsibilities of the line Departments. The members were requested to go through the content and asked to contribute their constructive suggestions to incorporate in the book for further submission to the NSDMA for approval.
District Disaster Management Officer, Thejangulie Zao also informed the members on DDMA team visit to KMC dumping site led by ADC and CEO DDMA, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa on receiving information from Administrator KMC in regard to the visibility of fire and smoke at the dumping site even after the monsoon season gets over. The team inspected the area and taking into account the vulnerability of spreading the fire to nearby forest had written to the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) for assistance towards the preventive exercise which was accorded by the NSDMA while the KMC has been asked to execute the work along with Fire Department and DDMA Kohima.
In regard to India Disaster Resource Network (IDRN), the line departments who have not submitted the data were reminded to submit the availability of resources of their respective departments in a given format in soft and hard copy. On Village Disaster Management Authority (VDMA), Zao informed that Nagaland was the only State in India where the State has notified the Disaster Management Authority till the village level, however some villages were still yet to submit their members list till now and further suggested to request the Administrative Officers for the matter in their respective circles.
On monsoon preparedness exercise as directed by the Chief Secretary who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the State Executive Committee to conduct a State wide social work on May 4, where the district have also been directed to prepare own monsoon preparedness program, Zao suggested that a team may be formed to identify some vulnerable areas so that the areas can be concentrated during the social work, and further information and directives may be intimidated to the members.
The meeting also deliberated on review of the pre monsoon preparedness where the line departments like Power, Food and Civil Supply, Medical, PHE, Motor vehicles, Forest and KMC shared their preparedness status in their respective areas for any emergencies. (Page News Service)
