Kohima bans import of pigs

Dimapur, April 30: DC Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie has banned the import of pigs from outside the State into Kohima district jurisdiction with immediate effect.
This is in view of the reported outbreak of “African Swine Fever” and high mortality of pigs in neighboring states.
In an order, the DC also advised the general public not to hunt or consume any wild meat, especially wild boar, Civet, etc since there is a strong possibility of the virus being present in such wild animals. (Page News Service)
