KMC warn against throwing garbage


Dimapur, March 23: The Kohima Municipal Council has notified that it will be deputing inspectors from time to time to check throwing of wastes materials including garbage in areas that are not designated collection points in the ward roads and highways.
The KMC notification comes following reports of such activities in the town. The KMC said throwing of garbage in undesignated points causes nuisance and pollution leading to spread of diseases. It said there are also cases where in spite of signboards put in place restricting throwing of wastes by wards/colonies and KMC, the same is not being adhered to.
The KMC warned that defaulters shall be penalized up to a maximum of Rs 2000 as per the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001. It said the ward councils and ward sanitation committees shall be held responsible if such random throwing of wastes is found in their respective jurisdiction.
