Kiruphema and Tsiepama celebrate friendship feast

Dimapur, February 17: After a gap of 65 years, two Angami villages, Kiruphema and Tsiepama from Kohima and Dimapur district celebrated their forefather friendship to relive their ties by having a “traditional friendship feast” on February 16 from Kiruphema local ground (Peducha), both the villages celebrated the feast again to revive the history of matured and in progress.
The traditional friendship feast began with a prayer from Reverends and Pastors from both the villages fallow by unveiling of Souvenir by Kekhrielhouto Nakhro, Chief Coordinator, IT, NBSE on behalf of Rokoneicha Kuotsu, former Minister Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Folk artistes from both the village youth presented a song each, while the program was chaired by Khrehie Makritsu, Convener Souvenir committee and the welcome speech was address by Thepfüyiengu Vielie, Chairman KGC.
Rev.Yagwelie Shüya of Tsiepama and Thepfülhoucha Kinyü of Kiruphema exhorted the traditional friendship feast and said the traditional friendship feasting was celebrated “so that the younger generation continues to perpetuate this friendship in the true spirit according to the values and customary practices of our forefathers.”
While, the friendship feasts comprised tradition recreational activities through competitive, such as High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, Feet Jump.
The feast also ended with traditional bonfire in the evening, whereas, both the villagers were made known to each other personally to strengthen their ties. The organizing committee also acknowledged all the participants and entire members for gracing the friendship feast of feast. (Page News Service)
