Kohima, October 19: Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr Neikiesalie Kire today laid the foundation stone of the Multi-Utility Hall of Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) at Chandmari ground here.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kire said the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a different norm which requires having smaller gatherings on any occasions. He called upon people to start avoiding big crowds for one’s own safety.
Remarking the people in the town area have become complacent and do not follow the guidelines or SOPs issued by the Government to prevent the spread of COVID-19, he appealed all to continue with what has been asked to do including wearing a mask and maintaining social distance.
COVID-19 is not likely to stop early, he said and urged everyone has to be careful and spread awareness for our own safety.
Dr Kire also assured of all possible support towards GPPK and its community members and would also take-up the matter with the government.
He also called upon the Gorkha community to work in cohesion with their leaders for a better future.
GPPK president Santu Thapa delivering the welcome address expressed hope that the local MLA Dr Kire would extend support towards the successful completion of the multi-utility hall.
GPPK general secretary Suresh Kumar Lama presented a brief report of the project, while Welfare Secretary Mohan Gurung tendered the vote of thanks.
