Kiphire DPDB meeting deliberates tackling drug menace

Dimapur, November 7: Kiphire District Planning & Development Board meeting was held at DC’s Conference Hall, Kiphire on November 5 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, T Wati Aier.
During the meeting, certificates were given to five tour guide trainees/ operators, which were sponsored by the Aspirational District programme Fund (NEC).
Aier said that Kiphire is blessed with scenic natural beauty and landscape and tourists will visit the District occasionally for which he appealed to the trainees to assist the tourists at all times.
On using of helipad ground for recreational activities by the public, the Deputy Commissioner warned the citizens not to enter the helipad ground at all times except for utilising chopper services. Strict action in the form of imprisonment or fine will be imposed on all defaulters with immediate effect, he said. The DC also requested the ward Chairmen, NGOs, and ward authorities to check the place from time to time.
With the increase in drug abuse in the district among the youth, the house decided to send a proposal requesting for posting a narcotic officer to tackle the drug menace.
Fire & Emergency Services and District Disaster Management Authority, Kiphire presented their departmental activities. Samir Thapa highlighted some of the activities taken up by GIAN (Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network), Gujarat.
