Kiphire bans students from going to river bank for picnic


Dimapur, April 29: In the wake of the recent drowning of 4 students at Zingki River near Kiphire town, the Kiphire District administration has banned students’ and youths from going for picnic, fishing, etc to riverside under Kiphire District till the end of the monsoon season.
The four students drowned at the Zingki River while on a picnic on April 25 last.
ADC Kiphire, Reny Wilfred, IAS notified the ban while taking into account the recent tragic drowning of young people in rivers at Kiphire and Pungro Sub-Division.
The ADC Kiphire also notified civil societies, students bodies and all responsible citizens to assist the Kiphire district administration to enforce the ban by bringing to notice any person going against the order.
The Kiphire administration has also directed all respective village councils of Kiphire District to put stringent check on students/ youths from visiting rivers and the local bodies to put up sign board about dangerous spot in rivers as caution notice.
