DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 18: The Deputy Commissioner of Mon Thavaseelan K, on October 16, handed over a letter that sanctioned Rs 50,00,000, under ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package: Insurance Scheme for Health Workers Fighting COVID-19’ to the family members of a healthcare worker who had succumbed to COVID-19 while on duty at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Naginimora, Mon, according to a DIPR bulletin.
The amount was directly credited to the bank account of the wife of the deceased healthcare worker.
The DC informed that the Union Government had launched the scheme on April 24 in order to provide safety net to the dependents of healthcare workers who are deputed to take care of COVID-19 patients.
It provides a comprehensive personal cover of Rs 50 lakh to all healthcare providers including community health workers and private health workers drafted by the Government for the care of COVID-19 patients and for those who may have come in direct contact of COVID-19 patients and were at risk of being impacted by it.
