Khrietho Peli No 11 celebrates golden jubilee

Kohima, March 16: Khrietho Peli No. 11, a community peer group of Pfuchatsumia Khel under Kohima village today celebrated its golden jubilee and also Sekrenyi festival, a two days celebration, on the them ‘Kiahe Rütso’ within the vicinity of the khel.
Gracing the traditional inauguration of the celebration as the chief guest, Head GB of P. Khel, Vineipra Pienyü, who is also the President of Kohima District GB Association and Finance Secretary, Nagaland GB Federation said jubilee is a time for celebration, happiness and goodwill and also introspect the past and plan for future.
In this he emphasized on the need for preservation and promoting the traditional and cultural heritage among the younger generations.
Maintaining that Sekrenyi festival is a time to purify oneself, he appreciated the Peli No. 11 for coming together and hosting the event.
Khrietho Peli No. 11 was formed in the year 1987 with 103 members, and presently has 86 members comprising of 50 female and 36 male.
Since its formation, the group has been involved in various activities, promoting its cultural heritage through folk songs and dances at different platforms.
Talking to media persons, Convenor of Organizing Committee, Khrietho Peli No. 11 golden jubilee 2018, Keneingu Rutsa said that during “Kiahe Rütso,” the members come together in unison in their colourful traditional attire and finery and sing traditional songs and enjoy the festivity throughout the day.
He said “Kiahe Rütso” has been taking place long time back, adding that forefathers used to work in the field throughout the year and “Kiahe Rütso” provides a platform for people to come and reason together after strenuous work.
He said Sekrenyi festival is a time to cleanse oneself bodily and mentally.
He also said that Sekrenyi is a time where the enmity between two persons also come closer and renew friendship.
Meanwhile, the peer group will inaugurate its jubilee monolith at Peli Badze, Gaziephe, P. Khel, Kohima Village with Treasurer, Angami Public Organization and Advisor Northern Angami Public Organization, Vilieo-o Rutsa as chief guest.(Page News Service)
