Khriekesa FC lifts Kohima district Capt N Kenguruse Tournament


Champion of Kohima district Capt N Kenguruse Tournament – Khriekesa FC along with Brigadier Sandeep Sharada, Deputy Inspector General, Head Quarter 5 Sector Assam Rifles.

Kohima, September 5: Khriekesa Football Club, Meriema today lifted the champion’s trophy of Kohima district Capt (Late) N Kenguruse Football Tournament organized by the Assam Rifles at Local Ground here.
Khriekesa FC came from behind to defeat Nerehema Village Football Club by 3-2 via tie-breaker as the teams were locked in 1-1 draw during the 90+15 minute of the exciting final match.
Nerhema almost found the lead within the first 6 minute but Menguzelie barely missed the target. However, Khriekesa defender pulling down Aloumai inside the danger zone cost them heavily as referee awarded penalty in favour of Khriekesa. Kekhrieletuo taking the shot gave the team the lead goal and they went to defend till the end of the first half.
However, after the lemon break, Khriekesa came strong and made several decisive moves keeping rival custodian Medophrezo busy. Their success came in the dying second of the second half as Achamo did not make any mistake in scoring the equalizer off a cross from Vimelie Chase to the end the 90 minutes in 1-1 draw. In the extra 15 minutes, Khriekesa got a penalty kick because of a handball inside the six yard zone by rival defender. However, Nerhema custodian Medophrezo made an excellent leap to thwart Medeneituo’s shot and thereafter the match with both sides unable to break the dead-lock.
In the tie-breaker, Khriekesa FC Meriema scored three shots while Nerhema managed only two.
Winning the championship, Khriekesa FC Meriema received cash award of Rs 25,000 with trophy, citation and medals while runners-up Nerhema FC got Rs 15,000 with citation and medals.
In the individual category: Medophrezo of Nerhema Village FC bagged the golden glove award.
Gracing the valedictory function Brigadier Sandeep Sharada, Deputy Inspector General, Head Quarter 5 Sector Assam Rifles and Neisielie Kenguruse, father of Captain Neikiezakho Kenguruse gave away the awards to the winners. (Page News Service)
