Khing inaugurates MyKi Fest

Dimapur, December 5: Advisor, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry and Women Resource Development R. Khing today inaugurated the 2nd MyKi Fest 2019 at Kohima.
Speaking on the occasion, he stated that though Women Resource department is small it has achieved a lot within a short span of time. He said that the department has done a lot in the area of self employment raising the standard of living and by contributing almost 50% of in terms of income generation specially for the people living in the rural areas.
He asked all the officers and the staff to give more effort so that the state can witness more income generation and economic development in the state. The advisor congratulated all the participating team and ensured all possible help from the department.
The Department of Women Resource Development launched the MykiFest during October, 2018-19 to celebrate the contributions of women as equal partners in the socio-economic development of the State, be it cultivators, farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, professionals, homemakers etc.
This year too, to recognize their contributions, the Department is organizing the 2nd MykiFest on December 5 and 6 coinciding with the State Hornbill Festival, 2019. The event has been included in the Hornbill Calendar of Events, 2019 and it is expected that many tourists, both domestic and foreign, will be drawn to the event, besides the general public.
The following sections of women and young women participated in the event in a variety of categories: Transformative Livelihood Intervention project, Training cum production centre, Ralong’s creation, precious MeLove, Quirky Qrafts, Akhole Pushe, Nyanbeni Kikon, Yangerla, Manle Konyak, Phuyang SHG Tuensang, Nourhe Womens Group, Heloise Kelio Thapru, Nagashi Bee Keeping, SHG Federation New Tesen Village, Ketoulenuo Solo, Vungi women SHG Bayavu, Akheli canteen.
Work shop Live demonstration on Art, Traditional Banna seeds, Necklaces, women Ornamental hip & belt, Traditional Bead works, Contemporary Brad work were demonstrated by Angon & co, Avina Nyuthe & Atsu Nguthe, Manli & co, Longtsula & co.
