Khermahal fires renders 6 to 7 families homeless

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 8: At least six to seven families were rendered homeless on Monday when a fire razed down their houses at Khermahal, Dimapur.
The fire, which began around 12 Noon, engulfed surrounding houses completely destroying 13 houses and partially a godown, causing loss of properties worth several lakhs.
Immediately after the fire started, fire brigades from two fire stations swung into action and doused the fire and prevented from spreading it further.
Eye-witnesses said that the fire started from one house, believed to be caused by short-circuit and quickly spread to other houses, resulting in destruction of properties.
A godown filled with memory form was also partially burnt destroying the foams worth several lakhs.
The fire victims said that as the fire started, they ran away from their houses and thus were unable to recover any belongings. Some of the tenants had already gone out for work and when they returned they found everything had perished in the fire.
There were no reports of injury or any casualty in the fire incident.
