KGSU appeals to Guv for justice in Dr T Ao Award for coaches

Dimapur, August 22: The Kuhuboto Ghakhu Students Union (KGSU) has appealed to Governor of Nagaland for justice in regards to Dr T Ao Award for coaches in the state.
The Union stated that Mughato Sumi, football coach of state Sports Academy Dimapur, who has brought laurels to the state time and again and also for the country on several occasion was outrightly denied the Award due to “manipulation and favouritism” by the selection committee.
It said going by the Nagaland state sports policy and also the sports arena worldwide, sports is purely result oriented and achievement based, nothing else matters, adding Mughato is also a recipient of Governor’s Gold Medal in 2015 for distinguished service to the state, state coach award 2013, best coach award (national) 2008, best coach award (international) 2012-2014. He also led the Indian U-13 team as coach in the Asean Youth Football Meet 2015 at South Korea and brought laurels by being the runners-up.
The Union further stated that Mughato is a role model not only for the Sumi community but Nagas as a whole in the field of football and Dr T Ao being a football legend till date, no body from the football fraternity has been awarded inspite of being truly deserving.
The Union urged the Governor to take up the matter on priority and bring justice so as to curb corruption, manipulation, favoritism and ism. (Page News Service)
