Dimapur, August 17: The Kuhuboto Ghakhu Sports Association (KGSA) today said that any person to be selected for an award should be done based on achievements and performance so as to award the best deserving nominee/candidate regardless of their professional fraternity.
The Association expressed shock at the “injustice and discrimination” done towards Mughato Sumi, the two times best coach awardee (International), one time best coach (national), best coach award (Royal Gold Cup) 2009, state coach awardee 2013, Governor’s Gold Medalist in the field of sports 2015.
In a press release, KGSA president, Kakheto Assumi and general secretary, Xusheto Zhimo said that Mughato is a role model not only for the Sumis but Nagas as a whole, who has also produced one and only ISL player from Nagaland, Kivi Zhimomi and till date the Government is yet to felicitate or appreciate his achievement.
The KGSA demanded to know the reality whether achievements and awards are only meant for some few particular tribes.
It appealed to Chief Minister of Nagaland to deliver justice if at all his “government is really for a change and transparency without any ism or partiality”.
