Dimapur, February 13: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has made it clear that the lone Rajya Sabha member from Nagaland, KG Kenye will be physically present in the Parliament to oppose tooth and nail and vote against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 as and when it is introduced in the Rajya Sabha.
The NPF was reacting to some reports in some electronic and social media that MP Rajya Sabha KG Kenye will abstain from voting on the CAB in the Upper House of Parliament.
Reminding that the NPF have made its position clear on the CAB that in the event the BJP-led-NDA Government push ahead the CAB 2016 in the Rajya Sabha, its MP KG Kenye will vote against the Bill, NPF spokesperson, Achumbemo Kikon stated that ‘resolution’ to this effect was adopted by the Central Executive Council (CEC) in its meeting held on January 31.
“It is also imperative to put on record that on 11th February 2019, Mr. KG Kenye along with Rajya Sabha Members from the North East Region has issues appeal letter to their colleague (Rajya Sabha Members) to vote against the Bill which is another instance where the NPF stands on CAB,” he said.
“Therefore, he will be physically present ion the Parliament to oppose tooth and nail and vote against the CAB as and when it is introduced in the Rajya Sabha,” he added.
