Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü retains NASA wrestling champion title

Kohima, February 7: Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü today retained the champion’s title of 65th Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) Wrestling Meet held at Kohima Village Ground, Ziekezou.
In the final bout, 25-year old Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü, s/o Lt. Thepfusanyü Pienyü of Kohima village, standing at 6.3 feet and weighing 131 Kgs, defeated former champion Menuosetuo Yiese, s/o Lt Khrielatuo Yiese, standing at 6 feet and weighing 125 kg of Kohima Village.
Pienyü representing NASA Group-A defended the title for the second time in a row.
Vizakietuo Suohu and Neizosetuo Kire, both also from Kohima village, bagged the third and fourth positions respectively.
The champion Pienyü received a cash award of Rs 1 lakh and NASA wrestling champion belt while the other three winners received Rs 80,000 – second, Rs 60,000 – third and Rs 40,000 – fourth.
The losing quarter finalist Kevisier Dzüvichü, Vaphizo Rutsa Mharavizo Kesiezie (all three of Kohima village) and Khrielabeituo Semou of NASA Group C, Nerhema village, received Rs 5,000 each.
Earlier in the morning, Special Assistant to Nagaland Chief Minister, Vibeilietuo Kets graced the inaugural session as the special guest while Northern Angami Public Organisation president Keduo-o Zumu gracing the valedictory session as guest of honour gave away the awards to the winners.
NASA comprises 29 villages divided into four Groups with 15 wrestlers in each Group with a total of 60 wrestlers competing in the championship.
