Kohima, October 17: “I was not in my best shape since this was the first bicycle race event for 2020. However, the course was moderate and I was able to cross the finish line comfortably,” said the 23-year-old Kevilebo Zhotso who pedalled to victory on Saturday morning to claim the title of 1st first Kohima Cross Country (XC) Race Champion.
Zhotso, who is also the champion of MTB Meghalaya 2018, took 13 minutes to complete the 5 kilometre race course which was flagged off from Raj Bhavan by Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Mohammed Ali Shihab A, IAS, and the finish line set at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
Trailing behind the champion by 3 minutes, Yamet Leinak came in 2nd position, followed by Avitu Casavi, who clocked in 16 minutes and 3 seconds and had to settle for a 3rd place finish.
Organised by Kohima Smart City Development Ltd (KSCDL), 19 cyclist participated in the event which is a continuation of the India Cycle4Change challenge and an initiative of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, GOI to create a National Cycling Revolution across the country in the wake of Covid -19.
The Prizes were sponsored by Krank Hub, Pusa Printing Press, Aravalli Enterprise and Mr. Manom Wallim, DSP Traffic.
