Kevichusa appeals Postal Department to extend banking services in the rural areas

Kohima, April 10: Nagaland Commissioner & Secretary for Industries & Commerce Department, K Kevichusa today called upon the Postal Department in the State to extend banking services in the rural areas.


He made the appeal during the review cum award function of North East-II Region comprising Manipur and Nagaland organized by Office of the Postmaster General (PMG) NE-II Region, Dimapur at Hotel Japfu here.
Last year had been a very difficult time for all due to the COVID-19 pandemic and despite the hardships faced, the postal department continued the parcel services while other courier services remained close, Kevichusa said while lauding the staff of postal services for their service during the pandemic period.
He also stressed on the need for the postal department to extend postal banking services in the rural areas of the State and help them avail the various banking facilities such as the India Post Payment Banks (IPPB).
Being a cadre of Indian Postal Services (IPoS), Kevichusa said there has been a lot of technological advancement in the postal services and the postal department in the state also needs to gear up the digital services by expediting technological advancement.
In this, he asserted to extend all support to the postal department and also approach the government for support.
Meanwhile, PMG NE-II Region, Dimapur Som Kamei speaking on the occasion informed that his office decided to felicitate the employees of the region for the uninterrupted services during the pandemic period.

Best Postman: K. Hekheangla, Postwoman New Sectt Complex; Sheangpong Konyak, Postman Mon MDG and Shivji Prasad, Postman, Imphal HQ
Best Branch Postmaster: Ng. Sanjoy Singh, BPM Kanglatongbi and M. Khentsumew Yimchunger, BPM Pungro BO under Kiphire
Highest IPPB Account opening: Taib Hussain, ABPM Patkai Christian College BO under Chumukedima and M. Chajinka, ABPM, Waikhong BO under Kakching SO Manipur.


Highest Aadhar enabled Payment System: Linpa Kom, BPM, Sagang BO under Moirang SO Manipur and Kevigo Sema, ABPM, Vihokhu BO under Dimapur Bazar SO, Nagaland.
Best Sub-Division Inspector: 1st – Parma Mahato and AngamoKadamba Singh.
