Dimapur, May 19: MP Rajya Sabha from Nagaland, KG Kenye has thanked Chennai Police and the Government of Tamil Nadu for coming to the aid of stranded people from Northeast in Chennai.
A release from the MP’s office said after seeing on social media video the plight of the stranded people from NE arguing with Chennai City Police to find way to return to their respective home town, the MP took timely intervention by directing his PRO Dr Naresh Ram who is currently stationed in Chennai to probe into the issue.
Accordingly, the PRO coordinated with the DCP of Chennai Police and found out around 64 people from Northeast being help up at Pallikaranai, Chennai. Out of 64, 63 people are from Assam and one lady Lungam is from Peren District, the release informed.
Dr Ram interacted with all the 64 people and assured them all necessary assistance. For the welfare of people from Assam he informed the Resident Commissioner of Assam, Anand who has taken all measures. Later when contacted, the Naga lady was safely put in a private accommodation, it was informed.
