KDTF meeting on IPPI, NDW programme held

Dimapur, January 26: The Kohima District Task Force meeting in connection with Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization, National De-Worming Programme and National Leprosy Elimination Programme was held in the ADC’s office chamber Kohima under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Lithrongla Tongpi on January 23.
The meeting had representatives from Education Department and Social Welfare Department. Opening and introductory remarks by DPO (RCH-UIP) Dr. Rupert Peseyie.
He said that India and all countries are undertaking one round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization where directives would be drafted from the Government of India.
He also sought cooperation and support from all present in the meeting and looked forward to achieve success like the Measles Rubella Campaign with proactive participation.
DPO (RCH-UIP) also mentioned the upcoming programme on 1st Round of National De-worming day to be held on February 8 with Mop-Up activity on February 14.
In this regard, he highlighted the importance of NDD with an objective to “De-worm” children between the age of 1-19 years so as to improve their overall health, nutritional status, cognitive development and quality of life.
During these days, schools and Anganwadi centres have been designated for the implementation sites of NDD.
“National Deworming Day” (NDD) was launched by Department of Health & Family Welfare at T.M Government Higher Secondary School on 10th Feb,’2016 and has successfully carried out thoroughly during August 2016, March 2017, August 2017 and February 2018. (Page News Service)
