Dimapur, May 23: The Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) held an emergency consultative meeting in regard to the ensuing May 28 Lok Sabha bye-election to Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency at Congress Bhavan in Kohima on May 23.
The meeting was attended by all frontal organisations, including District youth, District NSUI and District mahila and the presidents of the seven assembly constituency congress committee and also district Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) members.
After threadbare deliberation, the meeting in compliance with the decision of the NPCC resolved to support the secular party candidate, C Apok Jamir, nominated by NPF.
In a release, KDCC said it is aware of the vast experience of Apok Jamir as being a former Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha and also an ex-MLA in the State and therefore no other candidate can truly represent the aspiration and hopes of the Naga people in the parliament other than him.
The KDCC fervently urged all secular parties and like minded people of the State to exercise their franchise in favour of C Apok Jamir.
