DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 11: Soil & Water Conservation Minister V Kashiho Sangtam, who is also the BJP in-charge of Kiphire District, has owned moral responsibility for the defeat of BJP candidate, Lirimong Sangtam in the bye-election to the 60th Kiphire-Pungro Assembly constituency.
In a press release, the Minister said he being the BJP legislator in-charge for Kiphire District had recommended Lirimong from among the shortlisted candidates. “As such, should there be any mis-judgment or there be any wrongful decision in the choice of party candidate that may have resulted in the failure of the BJP candidate, I own the sole moral responsibility for the same. None of the legislators, party official, be it Central or the State, should be blamed for issuing the party ticket,” he stated.
Stating that elections should be fought unitedly, the Minister, however, regretted that there was “visible disunity and incohesive campaign strategy”, which was also one big factor for the defeat of the party candidate. He also expressed gratitude to all the voters for their support to the PDA consensus candidate Lirimong Sangtam.
The Minister also congratulated Yangseo Sangtam on being elected as representative of 60th Kiphire-Pungro A/C in the bye-election.
