Kashiho calls on Union Agri Minister

Dimapur, July 14: Nagaland State Minister of Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining and Chairman NSMDC V Kashiho Sangtam along with Commissioner and Secretary for Soil & Water Conservation Vikeyie Kenya called upon Union Minister of State Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Kailash Choudhary at New Delhi last July 10.
A late update informed that Sangtam and Commissioner and Secretary appraised the Union Minister about the current problem faced by farmers in Nagaland.
They highlighted the Minister that as a landlocked mountainous State located in the remote corner of the international border it lacks in industry sector and the State mainly depends on agriculture to boost its economy.
They also apprised the minister that even though the State Government is making attempts to boost the economy by developing the infrastructure and also by setting up new agri-allied programmes the economic grown is not at the rate that has been expected.
In this connection, they urged the union minister to developed the agriculture sector in State through various schemes and programme under his ministry to enhance economic growth especially in to improve organic farming and surplus production of agricultural products and improve water facilities and soil.
To this, Minister Choudhary also assured the delegation to provide full support to Nagaland in all the field of development for self-sustained future of the State.
It is to be mentioned that the Economy of Nagaland dependent on forestry, cottage industry, and tourism.
