June 22 funeral: DC Mon appeals to public to self report

Dimapur, July 1: In view of the detection of the COVID-19 positive cases in Mon town, DC Mon, Thavaseelan K has requested any person who came in direct contact with positive person or may have been in close proximity at the funeral on June 22 at Thamnan ward to self-report to the contact tracing numbers: 9862780643, 9856015152, 8974225174.
In a separate order, the DC has strictly prohibited the buying and selling of any items inside the quarantine centers, warning that anyone found violating the order will be punished appropriately.
Thavaseelan said that it has been reported that some residents in the quarantine centers are engaged in selling/buying of eatable items like biscuits, snacks, pickles, etc at exorbitant rates and indulging in such activities inside the quarantine center.
Containment zone
EAC Aboi, Mon district, Lithrila Sangtam, NCS, has declared the Polythenic Staff Quarters quarantine facility as containment zone. She informed the returnees housed within the containment zone to contact the following helpdesk numbers for assistance: 9862651830, 87322848869.
The Mon District administration issued advisory and order for personal hygiene. DC Mon issued the advisory to all residents of Mon in view of the increase in the numbers of COVID-19 cases in the district and urged all to gear up to take proactive approach of preparation and to take necessary precautions and preventive measures for containment.
This implies living with the assumption that every person could be asymptomatic mobile carriers of the COVID-19 virus, with a probability of transmitting the virus to others unknowingly, said the advisory.
The DC said by assuming that everybody is an asymptomatic person we will be more cautious and responsible for our actions and thus help in reducing the risks of community transmission.
He requested citizens of Mon district to compulsorily wear face mask at all times, practicing hand hygiene by frequently washing hands with soap and water or hand sanitizers and maintaining social distancing at all times in personal space and work environment. All should follow these three cardinal principles for prevention of COVID-19 transmission, he said.
‘Rs 100 fine’
In a separate order, the Mon district administration has notified that Rs 100 fine will be imposed for not wearing face masks in public places/ workplaces and also for spitting in workplace/public place. Maintain social distance at all times and frequently wash hands with soaps or hand sanitizer, the order said. (Page News Service)
