JP Nadda campaigns for PDA LS candidate


Repeats promises of Naga Political Issue solution

DIMAPUR, APRIL 13: For any political party in Nagaland ~ national or regional ~ the Naga political issue becomes the core issue in their manifesto or an agenda during their election campaign.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA Government at the Centre, which promised to resolve the vexed Naga issue when it came to power in 2014, did accomplish in bringing the Naga National groups to the negotiating table and singing the Framework Agreement on August 3, 2015 with the NSCN (IM) and the Agreed Position on November 17, 2017 with 7 NNPGs. However, the Nagaland political issue remains unsolved till date but the promise of a permanent solution is made in every election.
BJP’s National President, JP Nadda, who addressed the election rally of National Democratic Alliance at Agri Expo here for the PDA consensus candidate, Dr Chumben Murry, once again assured to bring a solution to the decades-old Naga political issue if Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister for the 3rd time.
Stating that the Framework Agreement (with the NSCN (IM) of 2015 and the Agreed Position (with the NNPGs) of 2017 where significant achievements of the Narendra Modi Government, the BJP National President assured that the Government would take up these accords in real-time and permanent peace would be brought when Narendra Modi is elected for the 3rd time as Prime Minister.
“PM Narendra Modi will return to power for a 3rd time and in real time he will take forward the Naga Accord in an effort to bring complete peace and harmony in the State”, he claimed.
Nadda affirmed that the Government will work towards refining the Naga Peace Accord under the principles of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas’.
He also said that there have been significant achievements in peace accords and surrender of insurgents in the Northeast and highlighted that 11 peace accords have been signed in the last 10 years, leading to the surrender of 9500 insurgents.
He also mentioned that there have been a reduction of 71% in insurgent attacks and 60% reduction in attacks on security forces, besides 82% decrease in attacks on civilians in the Northeast.
Congress hindered development & prosperity
Nadda said that during Congress regime, they had enough opportunity, but they misused it and never respected the time which was given to them. He said the Congress halted development and prosperity in Nagaland, adding Congress had the policy to “forget the people after getting their votes”.
He said due to this the Congress party does not have a single seat in Nagaland Legislative Assembly, adding, this is the plight of the Congress party.
The BJP President said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, and with the support of Deputy Chief Ministers, Y Patton and TR Zeliang, the scenario in Nagaland is changing now.
“We see the Prime Minister’s vision for the Northeast. It is not Act East, but Northeast must become the gateway of South East Asia. Therefore, efforts will be made to enhance engagement in trade, tourism and various other sectors”, he added.
He expressed happiness that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone and even inaugurated projects worth Rs 55000 crores in the Northeast
Highlighting PM Modi’s impact on India’s political landscape, Nadda said PM Modi has played a significant role in transforming the essence of Indian politics, reshaping its fabric and revolutionizing the traditional paradigms of political thought and action.
Nadda alleged that during the Congress rule, they followed the policy of division, but under the leadership of Narendra Modi in the BJP-NDPP era, it has transformed in the PM DeVINE Model, which means Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for Northeast Region. He said Prime Minister allocated Rs 6600 crore for PM DeVINE, which is Centrally funded.
“Under the Congress regime, Northeast meant divide and divide and divide and rule. But, under BJP it has changed to DeVINE (Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for NE region) model of governance”, he said.
Reminding people that Delhi is no longer far from Kohima or from Dimapur or Manipur, Nadda said that PM Modi emphasized on “last mile delivery” and “last mile connectivity”. He said the development of Dimapur airport has facilitated flights to Delhi via Kolkata reducing travel time, while development works are underway in Kohima.
The BJP president further said that during the Congress rule, there was a policy of isolation and neglect for the Northeast but under the leadership of PM Modi and Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, there is a policy of decisiveness, doorstep delivery and development.
He alleged that the Congress disregarded the east, but PM Modi advocated for ‘Act East, Act Fast and Act First’ and visited the Northeast 72 times in the last 10 years.
Nadda said that PM Narendra Modi has referred to the Northeast as ‘Ashtalakshmi’ and ‘Ashtaadhar’, symbolizing 8 areas of progress: peace, power generation, tourism, 5G connectivity, development and preservation of culture, natural farming, sports and enhancement of potential.
Nadda further underscored the joint efforts of PM Narendra Modi and CM Neiphiu Rio towards the development of HIRA – Highways, Internet, Railways and Airways connectivity.
In the last 9 years, he said significant infrastructure development has taken place in the Northeast under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which includes the extension of 6000 kms of National Highways, valued at Rs 3 lakh crore.
Over 6000 Gram Panchayats have been connected with optical fibre, enabling 5G internet connectivity, a milestone previously unimaginable. The railway budget has seen a 5-fold increase and 8 airways have been constructed. These developments have brought about significant progress in Nagaland and the Northeast, integrating them into the mainstream, he added.
Highlighting several key initiatives and achievements in Nagaland under various Government schemes, he said under the Pradhan Mantri Anna Yojana, 11,64,000 people in Nagaland received essential food items, besides, 1,20,000 people in the State benefited from the Ujjwala Yojana, receiving gas connections.
Through the Jal Jeevan mission, he said 3,18,000 households in Nagaland received water connections. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 17,000 houses were built in Nagaland, contributing to the nationwide construction of over 4 crore houses, he said.
Stating that under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, 55 crore people across the nation have been provided with an annual health cover of up to 5 lakh rupees, Nadda said in Nagaland alone, this initiative has benefited 6,13,000 people.
He also said that in Nagaland, the tax devaluation has been increased by 7 times and grant-n-aid has been doubled along with investments in infrastructure such as the development of a State medical college in Kohima and the construction of national highways and railways in the State. Substantial funds have been allocated for sports development in Nagaland, he added.
Nadda emphasized the commitment of the Centre to stand united with the Northeast and ensure its integration into the mainstream.
PDA consensus candidate, Dr Chumben Murry, Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphu Rio, Deputy Chief Ministers, TR Zeliang and Y Patton, NPF Legislature Party leader, Kuzholuzo Neinu and MLAs of alliance partners of PDA also spoke on the occasion.
